Aamir meets PM to discuss concerns of manual scavengers

After discussing the issue of malpractices prevalent in the pharmaceutical sector and exploring the possibility of allowing FDI in the pharma sector at the Parliament, Aamir Khan today met up with Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh to highlight concerns of manual scavengers engaged in cleaning excreta. 

Aamir was appalled when he realized the plight of over three lakh manual scavengers who do the work of cleaning excreta even today and are considered as untouchables by many in the society. He even highlighted this grave issue in his popular TV show 'Satyamev Jayate'.

After assuring Aamir that he would be looking in to the matter, Dr. Manmohan Singh asked the actor to meet Mukul Wasnik- Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, at Shastri Bhavan. The actor met Mr. Wasnik who assured him that the ministry has already begun working on this issue and would be putting an end to it soon.
