“The Avengers 2” Is Coming In 2015

If you’re one of the fans placing bets on “The Avengers 2” release date, you’d better hope you made the right estimate. An official statement by Disney points out “The Avengers 2” is coming in 2015.

It’s been a while since a movie featuring heroes’ saga to save the Earth became a raving success. “The Avengers” was released earlier this year but it already reached cult popularity levels. Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) and Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) got all the more popular. In a nutshell, everybody loved the first part, so it’s not a brainer viewers are eager for the sequel.

According to an official statement by Disney, “The Avengers 2” is coming in 2015. Disney’s CEO Bob Iger announced earlier this week that Joss Whedon got a contract to write and direct “The Avengers 2”. Is it really a surprise Disney wants Joss Whedon to work on the second part of the movie that brought $1.5 billion worldwide within three months?

Sources in the media say Joss Whedon’s deal means the highly anticipated part 2 of “The Avengers” will be released sometime in 2015. For the moment being, Disney CEO Bob Iger avoided to release any details. Bog Iger only said “The Avengers 2” will be released “at a time we haven’t announced yet”.

ComicBook.com believes “The Avengers 2” will come out in May 2015. “Considering that Joss Whedon’s contract runs through June 2015, it’s not difficult to figure out the likely release date of The Avengers will be sometime in May 2015” reads the website.

Truth be told, it’s likely ComicBook.com might be right about the release date of “The Avengers 2”. Marvel Studios has a thing for releasing new movies on the first Friday of May. Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor and The Avengers were all released on the first Friday of May.

But since there two and a half years to wait before “The Avengers 2” will come out, debating whether it’s April or May doesn’t make much sense.

Anyway there’s one other good news. Joss Whedon was signed to develop a series for Marvel Television that will air on ABC. According to the studio, the director will “also contribute creatively to the next phase of Marvel’s cinematic universe”.
